Durga Puja is here! What does it mean to a child? New clothes, laughing with friends, yummy food and being immersed in a colorful cultural experience. Step into this book and share in Riya’s excitement as you watch this festival come alive!

‘Celebrate Durga Puja With Me!' is part of the series 'From The Toddler Diaries' and celebrates Durga Puja as experienced by 3 year old Riya. This artful portrayal of the '5 Days of Pujo' appeals to young and old alike. Shashti, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Bijoya Dashami - the cultural colors have a pronounced Bengali connection, but are universal to Durga Puja celebrations the world over. Woven in poetry and color, it is easy to read and has been enthusiastically endorsed by children and their parents.

A charming and informative book. A great way to introduce children to the culture.

When I read Shoumi Sen’s Celebrate Durga Puja With Me, brilliantly illustrated by Abira Das, I must admit that I want to witness at least one Durga Pujo in my life…

I (Rajat's wife Payal) am always on a lookout for books that explain our festivals to kids in easy to understand and enjoyable manner. And such books are not very easy to come by. So when I heard about this book, I ordered it right away. And it really was an amazing experience going through it the first time (and the second time and the third time and so on). I read this book with my 14-month old baby. She was so thrilled to see the vibrant colors on each page. She was touching the pages and turning the pages (I must admit; I was scared that she may rip the pages; but I am happy that the book is still very much intact after a month of being read again and again - a testament to the quality of pages of this book :)). Well so coming back to the book – the pictures are absolutely vibrant. Another thing that is noteworthy is the setting of the book. Just because it explains an age old festival, does not mean that the setting should be dated. The book contains sufficient modern context so that the child can understand the book in the light of her life and that’s what makes this book that engaging. And lastly, the rhythmic manner in which the story has been narrated is absolutely amazing. It renders itself as something that you can sing along especially when you are trying to engage a 14-month baby. And one more thing – my 8-year-old also thoroughly enjoyed the book. Now she could not associate with all the festivities of Durga Pooja since we don't celebrate it, but she was so intrigued by it that she said "mommy, can we celebrate Durga Pooja next year"!!
Waiting for more such books!!

Loved the book. It is very descriptive and detailed, but also fun. A great way to introduce some traditional customs to kids. Love the lyrical nature and also the illustrations.
Really cool book to read to your little ones. I thoroughly enjoyed the poems and the wonderful illustrations , plus it is very informative about the festival. It's definitely a great way of explaining Indian culture and tradition to children . I totally recommend buying this book and I hope that they come out with more books from this festive series .
This book is pure joy. I was looking for a book to read to my boys to explain the excitement and fun of Durga Pooja and this was perfect for that! The author uses great rhyming to explain the traditions that accompany ten days of Pooja. The beautiful illustration makes each page a burst of colors. Would highly recommend it!!
What a fun way to introduce a traditional festivity like Durga Puja to young kids. This book is a delightful read. My kids enjoyed the colorful and bright illustrations along with the easy and rhyming narrative. Hope to see more books by the author on other festivities too. Highly recommend.
I’ve bought this book for my Nieces, nephews and friends children. They have all loved learning about Durga Puja. The illustrations and prose is so well done. Highly recommend if you need a gift idea.
What a precious book! I read it to my three year old who listened throughout and enjoyed finding little Riya on pages. The book is a nice way to introduce little kids to the festivities associated with Durga Puja. I have to say I learnt some aspects about the puja through the book as well. Nicely written and the illustrations are too good. Nice job by the author and illustrator!
Bought the book for my kids 5 and 3. My 5 year old is all interested in Indian festivals so this book is nice cause it keeps it real for her with the shopping and the dancing and the family. It introduces all the elements of Durga Puja in a cute kids perspective. It introduces Bengali words to the kids which is good cause living outside India its hard for the kids to know or even hear these words. My 3 yr old just loves the colors and the drawings. I love how the words rhyme so they like to read along. As a parent I like the way the essence of each day is captured in a few lines and the drawings are so detailed that the kids can just find something new and different every time they look at the page. The book is kid friendly meaning the pages are good quality and cannot be ripped easily. It is our current fav breakfast book.
